The DOMAINE DU VIEUX PRESSOIR, Sparkling Rose $19.99 bottle $19.00 by the Case
A family-owned and managed wine-farm that has been handed down through five generations, is located between the rivers LAYON and THOUET.Its present owner, Bruno ALBERT, applies the principles of modern oenology (environmentally-friendly methods, yield control, temperature-controlled vinification) to produce his top-quality wines. The grape-varieties and stock are chosen with extreme care and each step of the vinification is scrupulously followed.26 hectares of Controlled Appellation vineyards are situated on two hillsides of different soils (turonian and jurassic) and the characteristics typical of these terroirs can be found in the wines they produce.
The DOMAINE DU VIEUX PRESSOIR is renowned in and around Saumur for the high quality of its wines and the strong personality of its owner. Today the estate’s wines are a guarantee of the quality which goes hand-in-hand with Controlled Appellation wines. It is through his love for both the land and his job coupled with his technical skills that Bruno ALBERT, a true wine grower at heart, has built his good reputation and the success of his wines SITUATION & TERROIR Saumur area Vines : 15 years old on Turonian soil 100 % Cabernet franc. The grapes are picked well matured in order to obtain a good balance between sugar and acidity. The fermentation is done at low
temperatures (16/17°C – 60/62°F) . The wine is generally bottled in March. Its fine bubbles start a second
fermentation in the bottle, at the end of which it stays for a minimum of 15 months in the cool shade of our caves.
I would say that it is just slightly buttery, creamy and perfect for a chardonnay, Pam
Goes well with blue cheese, fish and pasta.
Tasting Notes
Our 2010 Pinot Noir delivers a light, elegant palate and lovely perfume of strawberries, cloves, tea leaves, and violets. Its vibrant flavors of raspberries and cherries are highlighted by notes of vanilla and sandalwood, which makes for a nuanced wine that is both lively and versatile.
Tasting Notes A dark strawberry color with a touch of translucence, this Pinot Noir is powerfully aromatic, with notes of sassafras, dark cherry, and caramelized oak nuance. Juicy and rich, this wine is jammy and fruit-driven with plum and dark fruit flavors. Earthy notes and a hint of porcini mushroom on the back end help to balance out the intense fruit flavor and create deeper complexity. Full-bodied, the finish is long with a touch of grip and lingering cedar aromatics.
No tasting notes to copy and paste but I did taste it Monday and this wine is for all my friends that love a Jammy wine at a great price. Well balanced and full of fruit. You will fall in love with it.

“Bright gold. Deep peach and pear aromas are complemented by floral honey and smoky minerals. Lush pit fruit and honeyed pear flavors pack a solid punch and are brightened by suave, building minerality. Becomes more floral with air and finishes with very good mineral snap and smoky persistence. 90 points” – Josh Raynolds
